HC 1660 NIOBIUM

Similar to HC 1650 but with added Niobium to increase the life cycle over the traditional chrome carbide wear plate.  Suited for fixed plant applications with -150 ore size. HC 1660 has an ultra refined complex carbide micro-structure for MEDIUM WEAR ABRASION with MEDIUM to HIGH IMPACT applications.

Overlay Material Type

The overlay material is an austenitic chromium carbide alloy consisting of a uniform, high density distribution of fine primary MC and M7C3 carbides in a matrix of carbide and austenite as described in AS2576-2455.

Backing Plate

The standard A36 steel backing plate is ideal for multiple installations methods. The backing plate comes in a variety of thicknesses to suit all applications.

Metallurgical Testing Type

Complies with the ASTM G65 dry sand rubber wheel test procedure with less than 0.26 grams loss.

The HC 1600 series of wear resistance steel has inherent cracks due to the metallurgical structure of the high chrome.  These cracks are not structural cracks that will cause the plate to break.  Instead, these cracks are thermal expansion relief cracks to enhance bending and rolling under compression.  These thermal expansion relief joints are common in most ALL CCO to wear plates and are commonly visible.
